Removal of Skin Lesions

Some skin lesions are congenital, while others appear with age. The most common skin lesions are moles, which usually do not cause significant problems as they are mostly benign. However, even a benign mole has the potential to become malignant, especially if it is frequently traumatized or exposed to the sun. Therefore, upon noticing a newly formed or changing (enlarging, changing color, ulcerating, bleeding, etc.) skin lesion, it is important to consult a doctor immediately. The removal of benign skin lesions is not only for aesthetic purposes but also a part of skin cancer prevention.

Skin lesions can be treated with laser, local cold application, special light, and other methods, but the most effective and safest method is surgical. The removed tissue can always be examined histologically to accurately determine its nature, malignancy, and the radicality of the surgery.

After the procedure, patients can almost immediately go home. It is recommended not to wet the wound for three days. For a few more weeks, active movements that could stretch the scar should be avoided.
