Vaginoplasty
Vaginoplasty is a plastic surgery of the vagina aimed at tightening and rejuvenating the vaginal and pelvic floor (perineal) tissues, helping to restore the joy of a fulfilling sex life. This procedure is most often needed by women who, due to childbirth, trauma, congenital pathologies, or oncological diseases, have lost the elasticity and tone of the vaginal tissues. This can affect the quality of sexual life not only for the woman herself but also for her partner. If the patient wishes, labiaplasty or rejuvenation of the labia majora with fat injections can be performed during the same operation.
Healing usually takes several weeks to a few months; sexual intercourse should be avoided for 4–6 weeks. Physical activity should be limited for another 1–2 months.
After vaginoplasty, natural vaginal delivery is not recommended; therefore, if a woman plans to have children in the future, a cesarean section is advised. The effect of vaginoplasty is long-lasting; however, tissue tone and elasticity change over the years, which may alter the size and shape of the vagina.
