Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic plastic surgery aimed at reducing the labia minora, less commonly the labia majora, or the clitoris. Most often, enlarged labia minora cause both physical and psychological discomfort for women. When the labia minora are not covered by the labia majora, lubrication is impaired and a woman may experience pain during intercourse. Enlargement of the labia minora also causes discomfort when wearing tight clothing. Psychological discomfort can also be significant, inevitably affecting intimate life and thereby reducing overall quality of life.

The labia majora can be corrected with liposuction, fat grafting, and less commonly by reduction. Labiaplasty can also be performed as part of a comprehensive vaginal rejuvenation (vaginoplasty) procedure. Healing typically takes several weeks; however, most women return to daily activities within 1–5 days, and sexual intercourse should be avoided for about 1–3 weeks. The healed scars are barely noticeable.
