Buttock Augmentation

Buttock augmentation is a procedure designed to accentuate, round, and slightly enlarge the buttocks. It can be performed by injecting the patient’s own fat (Brazilian butt lift) or by placing special implants.

Procedure Steps

Fat is harvested with a special cannula using negative pressure (when fat cells are needed for grafting, suction is performed not with a machine but with a syringe—this causes less trauma to the cells, more remain viable, and they engraft better). The fat cells are then carefully prepared for transplantation: washed and separated from tissue fluid. The prepared tissue is injected with syringes into the buttocks under the skin and into the muscles. The more precisely it is distributed, the larger the proportion that survives. In one session, 200–600 ml of fatty tissue is injected into the buttocks. Naturally, when grafting fat, it should be understood that the larger the amount transplanted, the lower the likelihood that all of it will take.

Recovery and Healing after Buttock Augmentation

Patients are able to return to work after 1–2 weeks. For 3–4 weeks, it is recommended to avoid physical exertion and to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks. The cosmetic effect of buttock augmentation is long-lasting; however, it largely depends on the patients’ lifestyle, diet, and physical activity.
