Forehead and Brow Lift
Forehead and eyebrow lift is an aesthetic plastic surgery procedure aimed at rejuvenating the upper part of the face by restoring natural facial proportions.
The forehead and eyebrow lift can be performed as part of a facelift or as a separate procedure, during which forehead wrinkles are smoothed, the skin is tightened (forehead lift), the subcutaneous layer and muscles of the face are lifted, eyebrows are raised, and their shape is corrected.
The cosmetic effect of a forehead and eyebrow lift lasts for several years or decades, but it largely depends on the patient’s lifestyle and genetics.
Procedure Steps
During the procedure, incisions are made along the hairline on the forehead, so scars are well concealed. At Tautrimas Aštrauskas Clinic, forehead and eyebrow lifts are performed using advanced endoscopic techniques, allowing the procedure to be done through even smaller incisions. Along with this procedure, other facial surgeries can be performed, such as eyelid surgery, various filler injections (beauty procedures), nose plastic surgery, fat grafting to the face, and more.
Forehead and eyebrow lift is designed to elevate the upper part of the face. The procedure at Tautrimas Aštrauskas Clinic is performed using an endoscope – an advanced device that allows for very small (1-2 cm) incisions in the hairy part of the head. These incisions are smaller than those made during an eyebrow lift without an endoscope, which involves a longer incision in the hairy part of the head. Endoscopic forehead lift and endoscopic eyebrow lift are intended to correct a drooping eyebrow line and smooth eyebrow asymmetry. During the procedure, with the help of an endoscope:

When and for whom is a Forehead and Eyebrow Lift Performed?
The doctor must assess your facial anatomy and eyebrow position. For example, if the eyebrow line is high enough, non-endoscopic eyebrow lift might be more appropriate, or upper eyelid surgery.
If you have chronic illnesses, it is essential to consult with the operating surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Preparation for Forehead and Eyebrow Lift
– A consultation with the operating doctor is necessary before the procedure.
– If you have chronic diseases or other ailments, take medications or dietary supplements, or have had other surgeries in the past, please inform us during the consultation.
– Blood tests are required before the procedure to assess the patient’s overall health and determine if the chosen procedure is safe.
Postoperative Period
– More significant swelling is noticeable 2-3 weeks after the procedure, and the result develops over 1-1.5 years.
– Numbness of the forehead may last up to 12 months.
Do not wash your hair for 3 days.
– Staples used to close the incisions during the procedure are removed 7-10 days after the procedure.
– Protect incision sites from sun and solarium for the first 3 months. Avoid spas and saunas for 1 month.
– Do not undergo dental procedures for 1 month. It is recommended to avoid any procedures that may cause strong head tilting backward, pressure in the facial area, or vibration (e.g., dental drilling).
– After the procedure, we recommend a course of manual lymphatic drainage massages. These massages stimulate lymph flow, normalize blood circulation, and are particularly beneficial in reducing tissue swelling and promoting faster healing after the procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it not allowed to wash your hair for some time after a forehead and eyebrow lift?
It is recommended not to wash your hair for 3 days after the procedure to allow the incision sites time to start healing without additional moisture, friction, or chemical exposure. The first wash should be done very carefully – use a gentle shampoo, avoid vigorous rubbing, hot water, or strong water flow. Do not dry incision sites with a hot hairdryer.
When can I go to the spa, pool, sauna?
After 1 month. When going to a solarium, it is important to cover scars with band-aids and protect them from direct sunlight. Places like saunas, pools, or spas create heat and moisture. This is an ideal environment for bacteria, which can increase the risk of infection, slow healing, and cause scar pigmentation (especially under UV exposure). In the case of solarium or sunlight – light can darken the not yet healed skin at incision sites, making scars more prominent or remain red longer.
When can eyebrow permanent makeup be done?
Not earlier than 3 months after an endoscopic forehead and eyebrow lift. The skin in the eyebrow area must fully recover – both the surface and deeper layers. If permanent makeup is done too early, it can cause inflammation, disrupt the scarring process, and increase the risk of infection or skin sensitivity.
When can eyebrow permanent makeup be removed with a laser?
Not earlier than 3 months after a forehead and eyebrow lift procedure. Laser pulses are a strong impact on the skin, which can irritate or damage not fully healed incisions, especially if there are still micro-scarring processes after the procedure. Additionally, the skin after the procedure may be more sensitive than usual.
When can I dye my hair after this procedure?
3-4 weeks after an eyebrow lift procedure. Hair dyes are chemicals that can irritate or cause allergies to unhealed scalp, especially if the dyes touch incision sites.
When can makeup be applied?
No creams or creamy foundations should be applied directly on the scars for about 3 weeks. Light makeup is allowed. Makeup products – especially creamy textures – can clog pores, hinder skin breathing, and cause inflammatory processes if used on not fully healed skin.
